The wife and I came in to this place around 830-845 PM. They were in the process of cleaning up the place when we came in. They sat us down and we ordered our food. The rolls that we got are pretty decent size. It was pretty good, though expensive too. However it is what it is. As for service, we got decent service. The waitress served us well. There were some occasions where she did go AWOL. When we needed something she was on her phone most of the time. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, they were in the process of closing and I'm sure most of her stuff were already completed. We used a Groupon deal and we didn't get no lip from the server. She wrote it down and asked us to press the "redeem" button. She thanked us and we left. So overall it wasn't bad at all. An nice alternative if Sushiland is too packed. Getting out of the lot is a pain in the butt if your trying to go the other way. Would I try this place again...yeah why not?

Service is always good. Food is fresh and presented like food art. Its a great value for the price and they often have coupons in the local mailers look for them! YUMM!

I resisted going to this place because I judged it by the outside. It used to be a Dunkin Donuts and the building is not appealing. I told myself there was no way the sushi was any good -- despite friends saying otherwise. Finally gave it a try and I'm a fan! It does not look like a Dunkin Donuts on the inside and the sushi was delicious! It was fresh and yummy AND CHEAP. A great alternative if you can't afford to go to Bamboo. :) Great service too.

We decided to stop here based on getting a groupon. On the outside the building isn't very appealing. Once stepping inside it is actually very nice. Everything looks clean and nicely decorated. We both ordered the bento box dinners. The salad was ok, the dressing is kind of bland and could use more flavor. The sushi was tasty and wrapped well. The salmon was cooked perfectly and presented well. The fried veggies were interesting. Not bad but not something I would go out of my way for. Overall I believe this place is a solid three stars.

Consistently fantastic sushi and bento. We come here frequently and get a lunch bento, gyoza, and two rolls of sushi (we change up the rolls every time) The bento is delicious and the salad dressing is awesome (I always judge Japanese restaurants by the salad dressing for their house salad) for the gyoza they use Katsu sauce which is different than most places, it's kind of like an Asian BBQ sauce. It's good. The sushi rolls are always fresh and they never skimp out on the fish which is important. Fried rolls come out fried and crispy which is sometimes really rare for places to do, so props for that The girls there aren't QUITE as attentive and quick to bring a bill as I would prefer but they are faithful to bring out everything we order and they remember us every time. It's also a bit overpriced, I wish everything was a few bucks cheaper like most Japanese restaurants.

Serviceable Sushi at a High Price. My Group On expired, it annoys me when a place puts a very short limit of time to use the Group On. This one was not even 3 weeks. I need to pay close attention. For the prices they had, they should have non pickled pink ginger and real white horse radish. Almost every Roll was $12 or more. Nigiri on the higher side, etc. Sushi Snob pricing, Serviceable Sushi. "The Had a Bad Day Song" (crummy adut contemporary station) also made me feel Stabby as I ate "okay" sushi. I ordered a Bento. Simple teriyaki salmon, salad, white rice, and spicy salmon roll. My wife opted to switch the spicy salmon roll with CA Roll since she is Prego and can't have raw stuff. The salmon was literally barely the size of two thumbs and my wife commented how it tasted like it was frozen farmed salmon. The ice burg lettuce salad, watery. The salmon roll was fine, did not set my world afire. Wife's CA Roll tasted like a CA Roll. The portions were small. The Miso soup was pretty good. Over $15 a Bento. They also added something I think is Tacky... charged a Buck for Green Tea. I ordered one cup. Nope. Not again.

Price is more than a sushi train place... but you're getting what you pay for. Clean establishment, quick and fabulous service, waitresses are always smiling. Most importantly, stinkin' delish sushi. :) We recommend Vegas, Godzilla and Spider rolls. And NOT the sea urchin (but not because on behalf of Blue Fin, just because it's a disgrossting little creature.)

The best sushi anywhere. If you order, off of the menu, you're a fool. The owner is there, ask for what's not on the menu. That's how you get the good stuff.

Truly good sushi. The service is almost always friendly, but not always the best. Admittedly, I am picky when it comes to hospitality. The prices are a bit high, but not terrible. We enjoy ourselves when we go there, but seldom do I feel a strong push to go.

Living in Oregon City requires travel to get good sushi. Finally somewhere close with very good fresh nigri. My wife and I go to sushi about once a week and we are so happy to have the Blue fin at our disposal. I started off with a four star rating but after considering value and friendly staff had to give them top rate.

The sushi was fresh, the service was good and the restaurant has been newly redone so it is very asthetically pleasing. They had some inventive and tasty rolls. We will definitely be back! We are sushi snobs and this place is our new favorite.

The best Sushi I have found in Portland! Not inexpensive but not outrageous, it is always fresh, perfectly made with fantastic service! Five stars and two thumbs up!

Went in for lunch on a Thursday with my boyfriend and we were glad to see that there was only one other person in the restaurant, so we were hoping for quick, dedicated service. We ordered the salmon nigiri, scallops, tobiko w/ quail egg, a crunchy shrimp tempura roll, and a calamari appetizer. The scallops and salmon nigiri were so packed with wasabi that you couldn't even taste the fish. The rolls were sloppily put together and fell apart as soon as they were picked up. Halfway through the meal a family with four kids came in and they proceeded to run around the restaurant the whole time. This isn't the restaurant's fault, but it definitely ruined the atmosphere, which was the one thing we were enjoying at Blue Fin. But dealing with a measly two tables seemed to be too much for our waitress. She was scatter-brained and short with us, and obviously completely forgot about our calamari until we were half-way through our meal, at which point it was brought to us cold. I would never go back to Blue Fin Sushi. The interior was beautiful, but the food was poorly executed and the service was terrible.

I found out about this restaurant through Group-on. It is a hard to find if you don't know where it is. They have irregular hours which working in retail I regularly keep but the occasions we've made it in I have been happy with both service and food. They are a bit expensive considering there is a Sushi Land around the corner but the quality is definitely there. They also offer a punch card which is a bonus. Working in the mall the food get boring pretty quickly so this is a nice oasis.

I stopped in for lunch with a Groupon that was expired. On the front door was a sign indicating 'the Groupon's for two, so you need to be two to use it.' Mine was expired so I went in anyway, not having tried them before. I wondered what would happen if my party was three. The atmosphere & seating is decent, except for the big screen TV (sports channel) above the sushi bar, which is quite out of place. I ordered a pork katsu bento box lunch, a beer and a couple pieces of nigiri to try them out. On ordering it was evident the waiter didn't know what real Japanese tonkatsu is, insisting the "pork katsu" in the bento was different. Whatever. Then way too late I noticed the same kind of beer I ordered was on Wed special (sign on side wall), which the waiter didn't tell me about. Nice sized pieces of nigiri came out, but the saba didn't taste like shimi saba, it was probably plain mackerel. Then came the bento box, a lot of food! It was tonkatsu, but very dry and chewy - I wouldn't be surprised it was frozen breaded from a factory. The tempura was the same way: too thick & heavy breading and like it was not prepared fresh either. And the rice under the tonkatsu may as well have come from a $10 50lb bag. Then the bill came - a total scribbled on the food order form, with no itemization! I've never had a restaurant bill presented like this before. I insisted on a real, normal bill, which finally came. When I presented my Groupon, the waiter didn't bother to read the expiration date so started his 'gotta betwopeople' message, until I reminded him it was expired so my deduct is the amount I paid, then he accepted it. Would I go back? NO Consistently, this is what you get in sushi bars which are not run or trained by Japanese...... And lots of emphasis on creative sushi rolls instead of real Japanese food or nigiri. Go where you see at least 50% Japanese customers for the real thing.

You all know I love sushi... I was in Portland visiting my family... my sister could not recommand any good sushi place. We found this place by accident. We got done shopping at Nordstorm Rack and wanted sushi and found this place. I'm glad we did because their sushi rolls are really good. So I found a yummy sushi place in Portland to go dine the next time I'm there visiting my family. The place was very nice, I like the decor a lot... it's very clean & the staff are super nice & sweet.

Used a coupon from restaurant.com to try this place out. I got the B5 dish, which is a bento with grilled fish over rice, salad, miso, tempura and sashimi. My SO got a few types of sushi rolls. The portions were generous and the waitress was very nice. But the food just tasted very bland. The miso tastes like it was from an instant packet. The tempura was bland and the tempura sauce was as well. I enjoyed a sunomono salad I got , which is the one dish I would have given three stars. The sashimi didn't taste especially fresh. I wouldn't say it was bad, just sub-par, and I wouldn't go back. My SO would have given it three stars for the sushi, for what it's worth. I prefer sashimi.

Got a coupon from Restaurant.com to use for our anniversary and check this place out. Our total order, for two people, food only was $48, which tells you the food is pretty expansive and the portions small. The food was ok, nothing special. The salmon was good, but not necessarily excellent to justify the price. Anyway, the server brings the bill, without even us asking for it, like we overstayed our welcome. I told her we have a coupon, that's when she first gave me an attitude. She said that I should have told her from the begging. I asked her 'why' since we didn't even ask for the total bill. She took the coupon, looked at for a while and then she said we cant use it because it says on it 'no house specials'. I asked her to show me where on the menu she had the house special s clearly listed. She showed me the page with the 'sushi rolls specials' but it didn't say 'house specials'. I told her that since it's not clearly specified, one can't tell the difference. At which she started arguing with me that I should have told her we had coupon from the beginning. Then her and the sushi chef started arguing in Japanese and she said that this time will accept the coupon, but only this time. I said ok, thank you, we appreciate it. She brings the bill again, with the coupon added, and instead of just handing it to us she starts telling us again how we should have told her from the beginning (the 3rd time around now!) that we had a coupon. I told her I didn't think that was necessary since we used restaurant.com coupons and never have been asked to show it first, before we ordered. At which, she put on another level of attitude and told me, quote: 'if you say one more word, I'll take the discount away!'. WHAT?! Excuse me, are you trying to patronize me now?! Is that you were taught in 'Customer Service 101'?! if you ever attended that? I would NEVER set foot again in this place, if this is the kind of customer service it promotes! There are plenty of sushi restaurants around for not having to ever check in here ever again.

Good stuff. Sushi was tasty and fresh, nicely laid out restaurant. I'm always on the lookout for a new sushi restaurant and was very happy with my experience here!

The sushi was great, especially the choices that are deep fried. This great food is premium priced, though. Our party of three came away with a bill for just over $100. Would go back but not often.

Don't bother getting a Restaurant.com certificate here. The server's demeanor completely changed the second I said I had one, becoming rude and standoffish. Why participate if you're going to be bitchy about people using it? And it doesn't affect her tip because it's included based on the pre-discount amount. Also, I asked for sugar for my iced tea, and she said the restaurant doesn't have any! Who doesn't have sugar?? She found some, but it was still weird. It's like she tried to be unhelpful. Another thing that turned me off: She asked to see the certificate, and I started to pull it up on the Restaurant.com app. She said, "Oh, you have to print it," in this fake-apologetic way, like I wouldn't be able to use it because I didn't print it. Um, no, I don't. Restaurant.com even encouraged paperless when I bought the certificate. It has a mobile app for a reason. She wanted to check on a table while I pulled it up, so she did and then didn't come back for like 15 minutes. That place is tiny, and it was early, so there were like three other tables. As I said, she pretty much made a concerted effort to provide negative service. It was my first time going, and I will never go back.

Food was average. Service was off, chefs and server are sitting at a table watching the olympics 98% of the time. Actually had to break her away from her phone for the check. Meh, most likely will not be back.
